Our partnership with RAA will establish hundreds of new EV charging points connecting Adelaide and regional SA.

The state’s largest member organisation has won a State Government grant worth more than $12 million to create a statewide network of electric vehicle (EV) charging points along highways, regional cities, tourist destinations and Adelaide suburbs.

In the next two years, we’ll install 536 EV charging points at 140 new locations to create the state’s first EV charging network. More than three-quarters of the new charge points will be located in regional SA.

RAA Managing Director Ian Stone said the statewide charging network was a historical moment in the transition to electric vehicles.

“The maximum distance between charging points will be less than 200km – half the range of a typical EV car battery.

Back in March 2020, we opened the state’s first ultra-rapid EV charging station in Keith, SA in association with RAA, and have since opened a second station capable of charging up to 350kWh in Murray Bridge. The 140 new charging locations will extend on our existing fast and ultra-rapid network.

Marty Andrews, Chargefox CEO and Co-Founder joined RAA to announce the funding and partnership last week in Adelaide.

“Last year we announced a goal to quadruple the size of our network by the end of 2025. Our partnership with RAA means that we are able to dramatically increase the availability of EV charging infrastructure in South Australia, providing more options for locals and tourists wishing to explore all that the state has to offer.

We began our relationship with RAA by bringing the world’s leading charging technology to SA for the first time in 2020, and we’re not stopping there. We’re excited about the future of charging in the state and beyond.”
