The NRMA has invested heavily in upgrades, replacing first-generation chargers with the latest charging technology to deliver a reliable and seamless charging experience.

All of these upgraded charging locations are now available on Chargefox.

With an existing connected network of more than 150 EV fast charging sites across Australia, in every state and territory, the NRMA is providing a national backbone of fast chargers connecting regional, rural, remote and metropolitan Australia.

Recently, they’ve been working to improve their charging network, completing significant upgrades at more than 20 sites across the country this calendar year. This has involved removing ageing first-generation chargers and replacing them with new state-of-the-art chargers, built for Australia's extreme environments and ready to provide a reliable charging experience for years ahead.

Not only have NRMA invested a tremendous amount in upgrading their EV charging network, they have also reduced the price of charging by between 21 cents and 4 cents per kWh across over 40 of their sites.

During the upgrades, The NRMA has also significantly increased charger output where electrical supply capacity existed, allowing the former 50kW chargers to be upgraded to higher outputs and at the same time added more bays to support access to the chargers, improving charging speeds to get drivers back on their way faster than before.

Beyond upgrades, the NRMA has also expanded its footprint:

  • 35 brand new sites were added to their network in 2025, averaging around three new sites per month.
  • More terminals for tap-and-go payments: More than 40 chargers are now live with contactless payment options, with even more underway to further improve convenience for drivers.
