We know that a point of frustration for drivers needing to charge is arriving at a station that is in use and not knowing how long it will remain occupied.

Now in response to your feedback we have just launched a new app feature where you can see:

  • State of Charge - The battery charge percentage of the car currently using a fast charger. (DC chargers only)
  • Charge Time - How long a car has been plugged into charger. (All chargers)

This feature will allow drivers to quickly check when someone started using that station and when they’re likely to finish, unplug and move on.

Providing drivers with the information to make more informed decisions about where and when to charge will result in a better experience for everyone on Chargefox.

No single feature or initiative will entirely resolve issues with queuing at charging stations, or the behaviour of a small number of inconsiderate drivers - this update forms part of a range of features we are introducing to encourage courteous charging behaviour and maximise charger availability.

Feature updates such as this, and the introduction of idle fees, along with rapid growth in the number of chargers installed by owners such as Engie, NRMA, WA EV network and many others are ensuring that the Chargefox platform and app meets the needs of Australian EV drivers.
