Chargefox named finalist at the Smart Energy Excellence Awards
Chargefox has been named a finalist in the Innovation category at the Smart Energy Excellence Awards, recognising our work to simplify public electric vehicle (EV) charging through industry‑leading EV network roaming.
The nomination highlights EV network roaming, an Australian‑first capability that enables drivers to access multiple charging networks through a single app and account — removing the need for multiple logins, apps or payment methods.
Bringing Australia’s charging networks together
Since launching in 2017, Chargefox has grown into Australia’s largest and fastest‑growing public EV charging platform. Today, drivers can access thousands of charging plugs nationwide through the Chargefox app, with more than 5,000 charging sessions starting every day.
A key driver of this growth has been Chargefox’s ability to bring together charging infrastructure owned by businesses, utilities, councils and motoring organisations into one unified platform — helping drivers find, navigate to and pay for charging in one place.
Roaming partnerships in action
Chargefox’s EV network roaming capability has already been rolled out through roaming announcements with major charging networks and organisations, including bp pulse, EVX, AGL, and the NRMA.
Through these partnerships, eligible chargers operated by participating networks can be accessed using a single Chargefox account, delivering a more consistent and convenient experience for EV drivers —regardless of who owns the charger.
Why EV network roaming matters
As Australia’s EV charging landscape continues to grow, fragmentation remains one of the biggest barriers to confident EV adoption. EVnetwork roaming is designed to solve this challenge by enabling seamless access across multiple charging networks.
Chargefox has taken an open approach, actively inviting charging networks to participate and providing a scalable blueprint for unifying Australia’s public charging ecosystem — while still allowing chargepoint operators to retain ownership of their infrastructure and customer relationships.
Supporting Australia’s energy transition
Chargefox is proud to be recognised alongside other finalists in the Innovation category, all of whom are contributing to Australia’s smart energy transition through practical, real‑world solutions.
Winners will be announced at the Smart Energy Excellence Awards Gala Dinner in Sydney on 6 May. Regardless of the outcome, being named a finalist reflects the collective effort behind building a simpler, more connected EV charging experience for Australian drivers.
The Smart Energy Excellence Awards are run by the Smart Energy Council, one of Australia’s most established industry bodies representing organisations across clean energy, storage, hydrogen, electric vehicles and smart technologies.
