The Children’s Hospital at Westmead has opened a new staff car park equipped with a whopping 75 AC electric vehicle chargers!

The extensive network of chargers is designed to support staff in transitioning to an EV and provide reliable charging for hospital fleet vehicles.

The Delta chargers were supplied by NHP Electrical Engineering who supported the installer with the commissioning & integration process. They are all on the Chargefox software platform, which provides hospital management with state-of-the-art monitoring and management capabilities.

Through Chargefox, staff can easily locate available chargers, track charging sessions, and receive notifications, making the charging process seamless and accessible for all users.

Chargefox CEO John Sullivan highlighted the importance of this partnership saying

"We are thrilled to collaborate with Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network and Health Infrastructure on this fantastic project. Our platform will provide their staff with dependable and efficient charging solutions, encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles and supporting the hospital's sustainability goals."

In addition to the EV chargers, the car park is constructed using sustainable concrete and features a large solar installation on both the façade and rooftop. The eco-friendly concrete reduces the construction's environmental impact, aligning with the hospital’s broader sustainability strategy. Close to 1,400 solar panels are expected to generate over 700 kilowatts of clean energy, powering the car park’s operations and contributing to the hospital’s overall energy needs. This blend of renewable energy and sustainable materials significantly lowers the hospital's carbon footprint and operational costs.

The integration of Chargefox's technology in the new car park marks a significant step for The Children's Hospital at Westmead, promoting a greener, more sustainable future. This project sets a new standard for healthcare facilities, demonstrating how innovative infrastructure can support both operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.

The car park is part of the NSW Government’s $619 million investment into The Children’s Hospital at Westmead redevelopment.
