RACV to upgrade EV chargers

In a huge win for EV drivers the RACV will be replacing their 24 existing DC chargers at 7 public charging sites across Victoria.
RACV General Manager Energy Greg Edye, said: “It is time to replace the first-generation technology with new high-quality chargers of varying speeds.

The existing chargers have been in operation for a number of years and have seen huge growth in utilisation due to the rapidly growing number of electric vehicles on the road. These first generation Tritium ultra-rapid units will now be replaced with Kempower units at:
- Airport West
- Ballarat
- Barnawartha North
- Euroa
- Horsham
- Moe
- Torquay
In addition to the above RACV will be installing 6 new DC chargers and upgrading 22 AC chargers at their clubs and resorts across Victoria.

The upgrade works are expected to be completed by the middle of 2025 with more updates provided as the project progresses.
Chargefox CEO John Sullivan said “The importance of this project cannot be overstated. It will significantly improve the reliability and availability of chargers at critical locations in Victoria and demonstrates RACV’s commitment to growing number of motorists transitioning from combustion engine cars to EVs”
“All of these RACV charging stations will be available on Chargefox, further demonstrating that by working with charger owners like the motoring clubs, energy companies, governments, retailers and other organisations Chargefox can provide the largest, most accessible network of EV chargers across the country.”
