In 2024 the team at Chargefox were so sick of hearing the same half-truths and misconceptions about EVs that we put together a series of articles covering some of the most common myths.

This was a hugely popular series and generated interest from thousands of people across social media. By popular demand we're bringing you all this content together in one place.

Public charging
There aren't enough public chargers! It takes ages! It's too expensive!

We've heard them all. You've heard them all.

As the software platform used to operate thousands of chargers across Australia we've got a pretty good grasp on this side of things. The reality is that you're never far from a charger and there are dozens added every month.

Battery myths
The batteries die! They catch fire!

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story right?

You can check out the full battery mythbusting article here and also check out the video from our friends at "Two Blokes Talking Electric Cars" who interviewed world EV fire expert Emma Sutcliffe from EV Fire Safe on their show recently.

Affordability myths
They're too expensive to buy and run!

It is amazing how fast things are changing. Gone are the days when EVs were the domain of those willing to spend $60,000 plus on a new car.

As of this month there are new EVs priced at below $30,000, and if you haven't looked into the benefits of getting an EV on novated lease then check it out.

Riz from carloop posted recently about EV affordability on LinkedIn.
Fleet myths
There aren't enough vehicle options! It's too hard to change to EVs!
FleetCard +Electric can be used at 90% of fuel sites, and over 2,000 EV charge points through its partnership with Chargefox.

Fleet vehicles make up about 40% of traffic on our roads, so for us to fully electrify transport then transitioning to an EV fleet has to be easy, and it has to be a win for the organisation right?

The good news is that plenty of organisations are already doing it and it's getting easier every day. Hopefully by dispelling some of the more common myths we can help get more companies pumping electrons instead of pumping petrol.

Chargefox works with all leading fleet management operators to help organisations electrify their fleets.

Grid stability and road damage
EVs ruin the grid plus they're so heavy they will collapse car parks and ruin roads!

Long story short? No EVs won't destroy the electricity grid we all rely on. In fact in the very near future EVs will be the biggest form of energy storage in Australia and will benefit everyone, even those without an EV.
...as for the story about EVs collapsing a car park...really???

Check out the full article here.

EVs will soon serve as batteries-on-wheels across Australia.
