Charging Sydney's East - 3 councils sparking change with EV chargers.

Waverley, Woollahra and Randwick councils in the eastern suburbs of Sydney were some of the first councils in Australia to make public EV charging available to residents and visitors.
The ChargEast network, as it’s known, is made possible through close collaboration between these pioneering councils and includes AC and DC chargers.

These councils’ chargers now facilitate over 2000 charging sessions a month, with usage growing rapidly.
They are now expanding to provide more kerbside charging integrated into the existing streetscape on light poles, further assisting residents transitioning to an EV, especially those who live in flats or apartments who are unable to charge at home.

The guiding principles of the initiative are increasing electric vehicle uptake leading to lower running costs, cleaner air and health benefits, as well as quieter roads and lower greenhouse emissions.
The councils anticipate that by 2025 there are expected to be around 10,000 EVs on their roads, so continual growth of charging infrastructure is critical to meet the needs of their growing EV public.
"All residents and visitors of the Eastern Suburbs should have access to electric vehicle (EV) chargers. That's why Waverley, Woollahra and Randwick Councils are continuing to roll out public charging stations throughout the region. Keep an eye out for more chargers coming soon!"
Sam Kelley Electric Vehicle Project Manager from Waverley, Woollahra & Randwick Councils.
Not only does this network serve the residents of Waverley, Woollahra and Randwick, but also EV drivers visiting the area, which takes in iconic tourist destinations including Bondi Beach.
