Australia’s greenest energy provider, Powershop, and Australia’s largest EV charging network, Chargefox, have announced a partnership to provide Chargefox customers $100 off their bill when they join Powershop. The news comes as Powershop recently announced a special EV tariff for charging at home and Chargefox revealed their plan to switch on another 50 charging stations around Australia.

Interim CEO of Powershop Australia, Catherine Anderson, said the partnership coupled with Powershop’s new super off-peak tariff will allow Powershop customers to cost-effectively charge their electric vehicles anywhere, at home or on the road.

“We recently did research that found 57% of Australians said they would consider buying an electric or hybrid vehicle because it will help reduce their fuel costs. This partnership with Chargefox is another step in the journey to helping change the way Australians think about EVs. We want customers to be encouraged to charge up, instead of fill up,” Catherine said.

“Our research found that three of the top five reasons people would consider buying an electric or hybrid vehicle were financial: the price of fuel, the cost to run and the cost to maintain. We want to give our customers a more cost-effective option to charge their EV and be a driving force for EV uptake to help create a better energy future that Australians need and deserve.”

CEO of Chargefox, Marty Andrews, said this partnership with Powershop means EV drivers can charge at home or on the go for much cheaper than filling up a petrol vehicle. Making EVs more cost effective to run than petrol cars means Australia is one step closer to increased electric vehicles adoption.

“Our partnership with Powershop allows our customers the ability to reduce their carbon footprint even more whilst reducing their energy bills. All Chargefox ultra-rapid stations are powered by 100% renewable energy, including solar panels and battery storage.” Marty added.

“We believe in supporting sustainable options to safeguard the planet for future generations – from our parent company’s 100% renewable electricity generation, to completely carbon offsetting our customers energy use at no extra cost to them,” Catherine added.
